one of the many Images from the July
World of Interiors issue- a beautiful photographic essay-this of Virginia Woolf's bedroom. The Chinese silk shawl was a gift from Ottoline.

HERE-
Monk's House is actually quite small. And, if memory serves me correctly, VW had to walk outside to go to her unheated bedroom. But the garden is quaint, romantic and charming.
ReplyDeleteG. I would love to wander through the gardens. pgt
DeleteSomeone told me that that curious bedroom arrangement had something to do with VW's need for quiet and solitude. Also nice to see those books, which VW covered in marbled paper as a kind of self-administered occupational therapy when she was feeling troubled.
ReplyDeleteEmile-I appreciate your "verifying" the blog-for some reason networked blogs does not think I am "human" until it is verified! Only one more human to go to feel Human. I also discussed briefly the WOI article at little augury too- it speaks to the books she covered -which I love.
